At first glance you might be fooled into thinking it's a pornographic Web site.

But that's just bait.

The mission of XXXChurch is to offer help to the millions who are addicted to pornography.

No longer a dirty little secret, porn abuse has become a bloodthirsty monster. More than 30 million people visit some 300,000 porn Web sites daily and even the most devout believers aren't immune to the gravitational pull of sexually explicit material. With this in mind, Beavercreek Church of the Nazarene, 1850 N. Fairfield Road, has invited J.R. Mahon, a pastor in the Michigan-based XXXChurch, to speak at Sunday's 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. worship services.

Jason Robertson, associate pastor at Beavercreek Church, was the catalyst for an event he's calling Porn Sunday.

"We're doing a series called 'Get Real' where we talk about topics that typically are taboo in the church," Robertson said. "We aren't bringing Mahon here just in case someone in our church has a problem with porn. Out of a congregation of more than 1200, we know there are people wrestling with it and we don't want to be in denial."

A 2005 survey by Christianity Today found that 37 percent of pastors admit to struggling with pornography. The most spectacular confession was from gospel superstar Kirk Franklin, who told viewers on an episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show that he had finally kicked his 20-year addiction to porn.

"Pornography is a $57 billion problem all over the world," Mahon said from church offices in Grand Rapids. "Porn is an absolute lie, and we've seen it devastate marriages, careers and families ... . A lot of people are addicted to this thing and feel there's no hope. We're here to give people hope and to reassure them that the answer to their problems can be found in Christ."

Although XXXChurch has neither a physical building nor a formal worship service, organizers have devised other ways to propagate its message.

"We have a big, fat Web site that gets a million hits a month," Mahon said. "People type in XXX searching for pornography, and they find us. We host conferences. We go to porn shows, rent booth space and hand out thousands of Bibles. We regularly get calls and e-mails from porn stars, porn producers and porn abusers who say they want to get out."

Mahon faults myopic churches for refusing to address issues of sexuality.

"The American church does a great job of putting guilt and shame on everybody's spin," Mahon said. "XXXChurch wants to strip away that guilt, strip away that shame so people can bring the issue to the forefront. We want to inspire people so they don't have to be locked into any kind of sin, be it pornography, alcoholism, adultery or drug abuse."
