You've heard the cliche "walk a mile in his shoes." But if you were to walk in the Rev. Daryl Radfords's shoes, you'd have to walk a lot further than a mile. How about hundred of miles? That's what Radford did during his month-long hike from Dayton to Chicago and back.

Extras

"God told me to walk to Chicago to bring attention to my advocacy for blood and organ donations and end of life issues," Radford said. "He told me to do it, and I did it."

Radford returned to Dayton on Thursday, May 29, and will culminate his journey with the Terminal Health and Culture Awareness Rally at noon Saturday, May 31, at Omega Baptist Church, 1821 Emerson Ave.

The rally will be hosted by Valerie Elijah of WROU-FM radio and features

comedian Mike Hemmelgarn, the Holy Ghost singers, members from the terminal community and free food and drinks. The rally is free and open to the public.

Radford whose ministry is centered around healthcare and terminal disease issues said he chose not to walk all the way back from Chicago to Dayton "because in some of those little Indiana towns, we simply weren't wanted," he said.
