Pastor says don't go to church Sunday

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

WASHINGTON TWP., Montgomery County — The Living Hope Church, 1150 W. Spring Valley Pike (at McEwen Road), is canceling worship services this Sunday, Sept. 28, to encourage people to BE the church and make a difference.

In cooperation with the City of Centerville and Washington Twp. and various non-profit groups, Living Hope will do 15 service projects in the community. For example, visiting St. Leonard's nursing home residents, doing chores and children's activities at the Chevy Chase apartments in Centerville, completing five home repair projects for families in need, helping with laundry at St. Vincent's homeless shelter, painting and landscaping for Linda Vista, a women's homeless shelter, doing repairs for Good Shepherd transitional housing for women recovering from drug addiction, helping Hannah's Treasure Chest with sorting, and other various random acts of kindness and more.

The church will meet at their church building at 1150 W. Spring Valley Pike at 9:30 a.m., organize themselves and then be sent out to be the church and make a difference.

Everyone is invited to help.
