Kimberly Robinson’s spectacles don’t just help her see, they help her get seen.
The Oakwood resident who hails from Grand Rapids, Mich., alternates between seven pairs.
“My eye glasses are a fashion statement for me,” she said, noting that she has a pair of glasses for almost every outfit.
When the colors don’t match, she wears one of her many, many eyeglass chains.
The avid tennis player is a master gardener with the Ohio State Extension and loves spending times in her yard.
“I like tons of color in my garden and I like to wear color,” the bright smiling Opera Guild of Dayton volunteer said.
Robinson, the mother of two college-age sons, sits on several boards, including those connected to Cox Arboretum MetroPark and Children’s Medical Center of Dayton.
She partly credits her mother for her fashion sense.
“Growing up with mom, she always looked nice,” Robinson said. “You wouldn’t see me in jeans in high school. I really liked to dress up.”
Robinson, who has been married 26 years to Greg Robinson, said she has since embraced dressier jeans, but wishes there were more dresses and skirts on racks.
As for those racks, Robinson considers herself a proud bargain shopper.
“You can call me cheap, but I find what I want,” she said. “I buy so many clothes and I don’t feel guilty. I can buy more.”
A fan of small boutiques, she gravitates towards classic pieces and adds flare.
She pointed to a classic tailored St. Johns dress her husband bought and she wore for several years.
“It feels good that you can do that,” she said. “You can take something that is so old and wear it without looking bad or outdated.”
