Dayton’s Amy Kollar Anderson — a mighty busy lady who is the gallery coordinator for the Rosewood Gallery in Kettering — has been invited to show her works at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts in Hamilton this June.
In her studio, she has just finished “Pool of Tears” and “Suit Yourself.”
This is the second year she will be included in the Surreal Salon Exhibition at the Baton Rouge Gallery Center for Contemporary Art. It’s a pop-surrealism show featuring 50 artists representing 21 states. Her work, “Contained,” is part of her terrarium series.
See the progression of her “Inside the Box” project she’s completed for the Dayton Art Institute’s Experiencenter. Twenty-five Dayton artists were invited to alter the same 12-inch plain square box. Her finished work is a hoot. It’s of a far-out guitarist playing his guitar in his psychedelic pad.
“I felt like I was on an episode of ‘Project Runway’ or ‘Work of Art,’ ” Anderson said. “Combining found objects from around my studio, painting patterns with glitter and neon, creating my new friend, ‘Herman,’ from glow-in-the-dark clay; this is who I am, contained in a box.”
She’s also begun two new works. You can see all of these new works online at www.kollaranderson.com.
