“A Dickens of a Christmas in St. Anne’s Hill” will make its biennial return Dec. 9-11 with guided walking tours of eight of Dayton’s most beautiful historic homes.
The tours are led by guides costumed in period dress, with live entertainment and homes in the historic St. Anne’s Hill neighborhood, each decked out for the season.
The community is 1 mile east of the downtown area, just beyond the Oregon Historic District. Tours begin every half hour, running from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11.
Tours last approximately two hours, including entertainment, home tours and dessert.
This year’s tour will begin at the High Street Gallery, 48 High St. The tour will conclude with a tour of the Bossler Mansion, a landmark structure built in 1869 that is considered be Dayton’s best example of Second Empire architecture.
Proceeds from the tour will benefit the St. Anne’s Hill Neighborhood Association to help to maintain the neighborhood’s historic character.
Tickets this year are $18 each, and may be ordered online at www.stanneshill.org.
Advance tickets are required, and organizers say they sell out quickly.
