Last week our
Dayton Daily News product testers tried out various products and gave their reports. This week, testers tried various shades of Mary Kay
Mineral Powder Foundation
makeup. Two of the three liked it, but only one would purchase it at $28.

WHAT IS IT? Mary Kay Mineral Powder Foundation

WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO DO? The consistency of this mineral makeup is lightweight and "buildable," allowing user to decide how much to use. Blends seamlessly and conceals minor skin imperfections.

HOW MUCH IT COSTS: $28

Libby Van Hook

Which color she tried: Ivory.

Did it work?: Yes. I loved it! Easy to apply and light coverage. I layered it with other mineral products (veil and blush) for a complete look.

What did you like about it?: Free of
preservatives and
fragrance. Buffs on softly, giving a natural
appearance. Doesn't take a lot of time to apply, doesn't look "overdone."

What did you dislike about it?: Nothing.

Is it worth the
money?: Yes. It was larger than other mineral foundations that cost more.

Would you buy it?: Yes, I'm hooked.

Would you
recommend it?: Absolutely.

Cea Cohen Elliott

Which color she tried: Beige.

Did it work?: No. Made my pores look like craters.

What did you like about it?: Went on smoothly.

What did you
dislike about it?: Too dark (I have olive skin and it was still too dark). Coverage not good.

Is it worth the money?: Maybe for someone, not me.

Would you buy it?: No. My skin did not look silky, just drab.

Would you
recommend it?: Only to a female with young, tiny pores and no
blemishes.

Danielle Washington

Which color she tried: Bronze.

Did it work?: Yes.

What did you like about it?: It went on very easily. No effort.

What did you
dislike about it?: Nothing.

Is it worth the money?: Not really. I believe that you can find a similar product at a lower price at a mass market retailer like Walmart.

Would you buy it?: No.

Would you
recommend it?: Maybe.
