'Ollie,' a white-throated monitor is native to eastern and southern Africa. 'Clay,' a Dumeril's ground boa is native to Madagascar. Native to South America is a screaming hairy armadillo named 'Rose.'
Sugarcreek Twp. rescue crews were called in to rescue ducklings from a storm drain in the Kroger store parking lot at 6480 Wilmington Pike where the tiny ducklings could be heard peeping.

A vaccination clinic at the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center in Dayton was held Wednesday, December 28, 2011. The clinic is a result of an ASPCA grant for the vaccination of cats and dogs whose owners cannot afford yearly routine vaccinations.
A Christmas Eve Fun Run/Walk and food drive at Buck Creek State Park Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2011, brought in more than two 38-gallon tubs full of nonperishable groceries and pet food for Second Harvest Food Bank. More than 40 walkers and runners and about six dogs attended. It was the third year for the event and the second year as a food drive.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office east office has been taking care of a couple of cats. Dubbed Clark and County, the two cats were dumped as kittens outside the office some months ago. Feeling bad for the kitties, deputies began putting food out for them. It's now grown to a heated cat house all paid for privately by the deputies.

The Society for the Improved Condition of Stray Animals held their 13th annual Walk for Strays Saturday, June 4, at Delco Park. More than 400 pet owners took part in the event which also included canine bobbing for hot dogs, paw painting, a costume contest, pet photography and a variety of vendors.

Dayton police captured two horses Tuesday morning, Feb. 22, on Wesleyan Road near Otterbein Avenue and led them back to their pasture on Kings Highway. The officers and neighbors said it was the third time in about a week the horse had taken an unauthorized tour of the neighborhood.

A naming ceremony for a 3-month-old giant panda cub born at the Atlanta Zoo Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011 in Atlanta.The cub is the only giant panda born at a U.S. zoo last year.
