It doesn’t matter how old I get, I still get distracted by whatever happens to catch my attention at the moment ... ooh, a butterfly!
Whether it’s Dierks Bentley, “American Idol,” the Dayton Flyers or the latest way to “lose weight in 10 seconds,” I’m bound and determined to get to the bottom of it. In a nutshell, I’m nosy. That’s why I love magazines, and the more celebrity “info” the better.
In my latest issue of Instyle Magazine, I found out what gets Keith Urban’s blood pumping, and it’s not Nicole. Wait for it ... it’s Britney Spears!
The mag asked some celebs “what song could you dance to for the rest of your life?” Urban told them for him, it’s Brit Brit’s “3.” “It has an unbelievable production and arrangement, and she sounds killer on it.”
Wonder if he knows it’s supposedly about um, multiple partners ...
For “American Idol” alum Adam Lambert, it would be the Black Eyed Peas’ “Boom, Boom Pow!” “Because it’s got that great booty bass.”
Latina singer Shakira revealed her song is “Bad Girls” by Donna Summer, because it was the “first track I listened to as a kid. It takes me back and brings me such joy.”
OK, a kid got joy from a song about “working girls.” I had to laugh at this article, because it’s a similar question I posed to members of the Dayton Flyer men’s basketball team as part of the “Flyer Fastbreak” segment, which airs on the pre-game show on our sister station WHIO-AM/FM.
The question was, “What song do you have on your iPod the other guys would razz you about?”
Sophomore Chris Johnson told me his is “Deja Vous” by Beyonce. “When I’m in the zone, I don’t pay attention and it just happened to come on, and they all started laughing at me,” he said.
Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” is on Kurt Huelsman’s iPod. “As much as I hate to admit it,” he said, “Miley’s pretty hoppin.’”
Centerville’s own freshman Matt Kavanaugh confided, “I actually have all the Taylor Swift songs. That’s not typical of what most guys my age like to listen to, but I’m not ashamed by it.”
Even Coach Brian Gregory admits to his guilty pleasure. “I tell those guys every day, the greatest rapper of all time is LL Cool J. They may laugh at the beginning, but at the end, they’d be sold.”
As for me, I’d have to go old school with Sugar Hill Gang’s “Apache (Jump On It).”
