Wright State University Theatre will produce Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical “The Phantom of the Opera” as part of its 2011-12 season.
W. Stuart McDowell, chair of theater, dance and motion pictures, confirmed the long-running Broadway smash will be part of a campus season that will also include the musical “Hairspray.”
“We’re still putting the season together, but those two are definite,” he said.
WSU’s current production, Feb. 17-27, is the 1953 William Inge play “Picnic.” Call (937) 775-2500 for more information.

• Founders Adam and Michelle Leigh announced Feb. 9 they were discontinuing their emerging Seed Theatre Project, based at the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center on Keowee Street, Dayton.
Since its launch in November 2009, the non-profit organization has been plagued by challenges beyond the expected funding shortage. A production of “Grey Gardens” was postponed due to a key cast member leaving shortly before the opening. Most recently, “Almost, Maine” was cancelled due to the weather.

• The Victoria Theatre Association has announced that Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe Award-winning songwriter Paul Williams will replace Lamont Dozier in its April 23 presentation of “The Soundtrack of Your Life” at the Schuster Center in Dayton.
The evening of classic songs, plus the stories behind them, will also feature music legends Jimmy Webb and Barry Mann.

• Brookville Community Theatre will present “Play On,” a mystery about a theater group trying to put on a mystery beset by deadly complications, beginning Feb. 17 at 770 Arlington Road.

• This one is worth the drive. Solo performance pioneer Anna Deavere Smith will present her latest topical tour de force, “Let Me Down Easy,” at 8 p.m. Feb. 22, 23, 25 and 26, and 2 p.m. Feb. 26 and 27 in the Lincoln Theatre, 769 E. Long St., Columbus.
