QUESTION 1

What are your plans to utilize technology to improve efficiency and customer service to the citizens and the court system of Shelby County?

QUESTION 2

What are your priorities for the clerk of court?s office over the next four years?

MICHELE K. MUMFORD (R)

Address: Hetzler Road,

Sidney, 45365

Occupation: Legal administrator for the Shelby County Clerk of Courts

Education and related experience: Sidney High School graduate; Edison Community College Graduate; human resource management. Working in the clerk?s office, being mentored by the clerk and educated by the Ohio Clerk of Courts Association.

Answer 1: I am currently working with the present clerk and our computer company to build a secure website for display of public records. It has been a goal of this office to provide this convenience for some time, but it has not been feasible. Advancements in technology are bringing the cost down; now it is only a matter of time.

Answer 2: The buzz word for the next four years is BUDGET. Shelby County is under a hiring freeze and things are tight. One priority is to create an acceptable budget without cutting hours or services. Another is to protect the public?s right to inspection of records; at the same time doing what we can to preserve individual privacy and identity theft.

SHELIA NUSS (D)

Address: South Main Street,

Sidney, 45365

Occupation: Currently complex apartments leasing agent. In order to run for the position of Shelby County Clerk of Courts, I had to resign my position as director of Shelby County Transportation for the elderly because of the Hatch Act.

Education and related experience: Formerly, first director of Shelby County Transportation, assistant Human Resource Manager for C&C Tech., and assistant regional manager for Alcoa Building Products. Attended Edison Community College.

Answer 1: My goal: To use the system the county is currently providing to see if changes need to be done. Shelby County keeps up-to-date on technology when it comes to serving our citizens, and strives to provide better service, access of documents, not only now but for the past. I pride myself in keeping abreast of technology changes in the workplace.

Answer 2: Priorities: Maintain good communication, record document keeping and service between the various courts and offices, making documents readily available in a timely manner. Attending various seminars pertaining to this position, because the Ohio Revised Code maintains the conduct of this office. I will make myself available to the citizens of Shelby County, whom this office serves.
