By Staff reports

Wednesday, December 06, 2006

— A hog farm four miles northwest of Covington has received state approval to more than double in size from 2,000 to 4,400 hogs, an expansion that will make it Miami County's only livestock farm large enough to require state permits.

The state Department of Agriculture last week issued final permits for the expansion to DEAM Hog Finishers, 9600 N. Range Line Road.

Extras

The expansion involves the building of a barn measuring 241 feet by 80 feet.

Permit applicants are Donald and Evelyn Kuether, and their son and daughter-in-law, Anton and Michelle Kuether.

In Ohio, farms housing more than 2,500 hogs are required to obtain state permits.
