The waterfall in the center of downtown Troy is turned pink each summer in celebration of the city's popular Strawberry Festival.

Troy is home to the famous Strawberry Festival which takes place in early June and home of the Guinness World Record for the largest strawberry shortcake. The city is also the home of The Hobart Corporation and Hobart Brothers Corporation.

Troy is home to the Marsh Supermarket which used the first barcode scanner in June, 1974. NASA astronaut Nancy Jane Currie considers Troy, OH to be her hometown. Musician Micah Carli of the band Hawthorne Heights went to school at Troy High School and worked at the local UDF.
