DAYTON — U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown on Tuesday reassured a group of Dayton business leaders that funding considered critical for carrying out infrastructure projects at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is "going to happen."
Brown was the keynote speaker Tuesday morning at a breakfast sponsored by the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Cleveland democrat said "there's too much at stake on all elements" of a supplemental spending bill that President Bush has vowed to veto should it contain a deadline for troop withdrawal from Iraq.
The Senate has passed a bill calling for most U.S. combat troops to be out of Iraq by March 31, 2008. The House version demands a September 2008 withdrawal.
In both houses, the time lines are attached to legislation providing $3.1 billion in funding to carry out military restructuring mandated by the Base Realignment and Closure process of 2005.
At Wright-Patterson Air Force Base at least $19 million of that funding is needed this year to begin laying the groundwork for $260 million in construction for aerospace medicine and other research facilities. BRAC law mandates that new programs be in place by September 2011.
Despite President Bush's veto threat, Brown said he would expect spending to be approved by June.
"I'm 95 percent sure," he said.
