State approves $6M in grants for Dayton area business

COLUMBUS — The State Controlling Board on Monday approved more than $6 million in funding to support fuel cell technology development and to boost business development.

It included a nearly $500,000 grant to allow the University of Dayton to assess the XX25 fuel cell developed by UltraCell Corp., and $1 million for the university and UltraCell to building a manufacturing plant in Vandalia that is to create 235 jobs during the next three years.

Extras

The state board also authorized a $1 million fuel cell technology development grant for UltraCell; almost $500,000 for Mound Technical Solutions Inc., Miamisburg, to work toward assembly of comprehensive fuel-cell test system modules, and $3.7 million for regional marketing and business development assistance to be administered by Development Projects Inc. of Montgomery County.
