WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — The base's Aeronautical Systems Center hosted tests to help clear the F-22 Raptor to be certified for flight readiness.
The ASC's Major Shared Source Center provided computing resources for a team led by Lockheed Martin Corp. The team's assignment was to do computer data analyses designed to assess how the body of the F-22 aircraft would handle stresses of flying tactics that American pilots might use to evade enemy pursuit.

The eight days of computer studies were done to help Lockheed Martin meet a deadline for completing the assessment, officials at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base said.
The F-22 is the next-generation fighter designed to modernize U.S. aerial combat forces, with its abilities to fly longer at supersonic speeds and carry updated on-board electronics to improve detection of enemies.
