Man sought in sex assault on 5-year-old arrested in area park

KETTERING — A 33-year-old man sought on an accusation that he sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl was arrested Monday at a park in Miami Twp., a Kettering Police Department public information officer said.

Matthew Scott MacKendrick was detained by Miami Twp. police in Crains Run park about 7 p.m. and arrested on a warrant issued out of Kettering, Officer Bill Torok said.
A woman watching a news broadcast about MacKendrick called police and reported seeing a man at the park who fit the description given during the newscast, Torok said.
Officers found him there and detained him. MacKendrick was with another man, who was not detained, Torok said.
MacKendrick was taken to the Kettering City Jail and held without bond. He will be kept there until his initial appearance in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, Torok said.
