The Butler County Prosecutor's Office said a first-degree misdemeanor carries a maximum of six months in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.
Police said the incident occurred during a confrontation at a Quail Ridge Drive residence. DeVenanzio approached a gray Cadillac parked behind his girlfriend's car. When he reached the passenger's window, officers said, Sherman pointed a gun at him. The gun was not loaded.
The altercation followed DeVenanzio's girlfriend, an MU student, passing Sherman on a double yellow line, police said. He claims DeVenanzio approached his car in a threatening manner.
