FRANKLIN — A woman was recovering Monday after she was attacked Friday by two pit bulls in a motel parking lot.

Sangita Patel, 34, was bitten several times about 4:15 p.m. outside Collie's Motel on North Main Street, according to police reports.

Officers arrived to find her face down with the dogs standing near her, according to the reports. Police were able to scare off the animals, which were rounded up by a Warren County dog warden.

Patel was bleeding from bites on her right hand, left arm and left leg, according to the reports. She was treated and released from Sycamore Hospital.

The dogs, which have not been claimed, are at the county Humane Society animal shelter, dog warden Steve Young said.

Ohio law classifies pit bulls as "vicious" and requires owners to keep the animals under strict regulations.

Franklin uses the same classification as the state and requires that the dogs be "contained, registered and insured" by their owners, city Law Director Donnette Fisher said.
