— Amanda Borchers sheds tears as she expresses her love for fellow members of the Centerville High School marching band.

"I was kind of embarrassed that I cried, but it was just in the moment," said Borchers, 16, regarding her emotional scene in From the 50 Yard Line.

Executive produced and directed by Doug Lantz of Los Angeles, From the 50 Yard Line is a documentary about the 2006 Centerville Jazz Band. Lantz, a Centerville native, gave students a sneak preview Wednesday of the film's trailer.

"I think that the documentary is going to be amazing," said Brian Moore, 17, a band member. "It looks great just from the trailers that we saw today."

Lantz, a freelance journalist for ABC News and former member of the CHS marching band, has followed the students for eight months. His camera crews, which ranged from two to six people, documented auditions, band camp, practices, football games and competitions in Atlanta and Indianapolis.

"I want people to dismiss their misconceptions and stereotypes about marching band, and realize that there are life-changing effects for these students," Lantz said. "That there's visual artistry that happens on the field every moment."

Lantz plans to complete post-production on the film by April and submit it for consideration to the Cannes Film Festival.

"It was absolutely fantastic," said band director Andrew Markworth, regarding Lantz's footage. "I was blown away by how professionally it was put together and the emotions that it captured on film. I think that's going to go a long way in showing people the effect that the experience has on these kids."

The screening was a send-off for the CHS band, which on Dec. 30 will march in the Orlando Citrus Parade in Florida.
