"She is from San Francisco and she has been homesick," Roach said. "She's very close to her family."
Sullivan co-anchored the Dayton NBC affiliate's 5, 6 and 11 p.m. weekday newscasts with Mark Allan. Her last day on the air will be Jan. 11.
"She's been here for four good years and she's been a good, solid anchor, a great asset to the station," Roach said. "We're sorry to see her go."
Sullivan is on vacation and could not be reached for comment. Roach said she plans to pursue public relations jobs in San Francisco.
Sullivan is mentioned in the January 2007 edition of Esquire magazine. In response to Esquire's November cover story naming actress Scarlett Johansson as the "Sexiest Woman Alive," Toby Jones of West Alexandria wrote: "You guys are nuts. The most sexy, beautiful woman in the world is Coleen Sullivan, evening anchor for WDTN Channel 2 News in Dayton, Ohio."
Before moving to Dayton, Sullivan was an anchor-reporter at KESQ-TV in Palm Springs, Calif. She began her broadcasting career as a reporter-photographer at KVIQ-TV in Eureka, Calif.
