A paroled rapist was indicted Friday on three felony counts stemming from an attack on a woman waiting at a downtown bus stop.

A Montgomery County grand jury indicted Rodney Beamon, 50, of Cincinnati on charges of attempted rape, kidnapping and felonious assault that included specifications for firearms, committing an offense with a sexual motivation and being a sexually violent predator.

The attack occurred Dec. 8 on the 200 block of S. Wilkinson Street, Dayton police Lt. John Huber said.

A few weeks later, the woman was being booked into the county jail on a criminal trespassing charge when she spotted Beamon. She was being fingerprinted when Beamon walked by, and a Dayton police officer noticed Beamon became very upset.

"She sees him and starts crying," Huber said.

The woman told the officer that Beamon had attacked her and that she never thought she would see him again, Huber said.

Beamon had been booked into the jail on a charge of receiving stolen property after police found him in a car stolen out of Cincinnati, Huber said.

Beamon also was being held on an accusation that he violated parole. He had been released Oct. 13 from London Correctional Institution, where he was serving time for rape and theft, and did not provide a change of address as required as part of his sexual offender status, according to Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction records.
