Star Trek actor to speak at aviation ceremony

DAYTON — Michael Dorn, the Star Trek actor and longtime pilot, is to serve as master of ceremonies for the National Aviation Hall of Fame's 46th annual enshrinement dinner and ceremony on July 21.
Dorn, 54, is best known for his role as the Klingon character Worf in Star Trek television episodes and movies. He is to preside at the Dayton Convention Center ceremony at which the National Aviation Hall of Fame is to induct five enshrinees who will join 190 aviation pioneers who has already been so honored.

Dorn has owned and flown ex-military aircraft including a North American T-33 trainer and F-86 Sabre. He currently flies a Beech Baron.
The 2007 inductees were announced in December. They are:
•Walter J. Boyne, an author, aviation historian and former director of the Smithsonian Institution's Air and Space Museum;
•Steve Fossett, the adventurer noted for global ballooning journeys;
•Evelyn Bryan Johnson, a longtime flight instructor and administrator of flight examinations;
•Sally K. Ride, the nation's first woman in space.
•Frederick W. Smith, the former Marine pilot who founded Federal Express Corp.
All five plan to attend the induction ceremony, said Ron Kaplan, executive director of the aviation hall.
