Kettering mayor injured in Mini Grand Prix race

KETTERING — Mayor Don Patterson was treated at Kettering Medical Center Saturday for injuries from a crash during the Dayton Daily News Mini Grand Prix of Kettering.
Patterson, 54, was treated and released from the Kettering hospital after his car was struck twice about 12:30 p.m., Saturday, at the Fraze Pavilion in Kettering, witnesses said.

Patterson was injured after his car, tipped on it side from the first collision, was struck a second time and rolled over, leaving him headfirst on the track, witnesses said.
However Patterson was released from the hospital with nothing more than "a lot of bumps and bruises," his wife Maureen Patterson said.
"Actually he's doing OK," she said. "We're just grateful everything was good."
Police and emergency workers rushed to the crash site, witnesses said, but a dispatcher said there was no investigation or report.
Patterson was unavailable for comment.
The Mini Grand Prix is an annual event in Kettering.
His wife said: "He's done it before. It's great time for the community and city."
