DAYTON — David Brigham, who was slated to take over the top spot at the Dayton Art Institute in less than three weeks, will not be filling the job because of his decision to live in Cincinnati rather than the Greater Dayton area.
The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon by DAI board chair Joseph A. Zehenny, who said the museum is resuming its search for a new director and CEO.

Brigham responded to a Dayton Daily News request for a statement by leaving a voice mail Tuesday evening:
"My statement is the Dayton Art Institute is a great museum. Period. Dayton is a wonderful community. Period," he said.
Brad Tillson, who has been serving as interim director of the DAI, will continue in that capacity until a new director is found.
