DAYTON — Kelvin Schmidlin popped the question to Debbie Robinson on Tuesday night on the set of The Human Race Theatre Company's production of a love story for the ages, "Romeo and Juliet."
The Shakespeare play had just ended at The Loft Theatre when Schmidlin, 48, of Fairborn, led Robinson, 50, of Beavercreek from their seats in the audience onto the stage. He had told her they had won a prize in a drawing.

She took a seat on the very spot where Elana Ernst, as Juliet, had lay in the tomb and calmly answered, "Yes" to Schmidlin's proposal. Looking on, the cast applauded.
The two have been dating for many months. Last summer, Schmidlin said, "We were swimming one day last summer and Debbie asked me to marry her."
When he avoided a decision, "She pushed me under water.
I've been waiting for the perfect time and place to ask her. This was it."
"Romeo and Juliet" continues through Sunday at The Loft.
