No Republican or independent candidates filed for the seat so Lieberman, 46, of Clayton, faces no other opposition in November.
"I thank Democratic voters for their support and their confidence in me," said Lieberman, who is in the final year of her first term on commission. "I'm going to spend my next term working hard for all the citizens of Montgomery County and I'm going to keep the Dayton region moving forward."
Newberry, 44, of Dayton said he's not done with politics and he was encouraged by the number of votes cast for him.
Lieberman ran on her record, saying the county commission had made progress on economic development, consolidated 911 dispatch and passage of the increased human services levy.
She said the major issue facing the county is how to deal with the revenue implications of an economic downturn, even as the county faces increased demand for services.
