Man severely injured when car slams into house

DAYTON — A 40-year-old man suffered severe head trauma when he lost control of his car and struck the porch of a house on Troy Street.
Lt. Robert Mannix of the Dayton police department said the man was driving a Ford Mustang southbound on Troy Street at about 1:35 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, when the car left the roadway. Mannix said the man apparently was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The car struck a porch at 1105 Troy St. heavily damaging the porch. Mannix said the impact left the porch structurally unsound, and it might have to be removed.
After hitting the house at 1105 Troy St., the car came to rest in the yard at 1101 Troy St.
Mannix said ambulance crews treated the driver for possibly life-threatening trauma to his head and transported him to Miami Valley Hospital. The victim's name was not released.
Mannix said accident experts will attempt to reconstruct the chain of events leading to the crash.
