Museum to honor King on anniversary of assassination

DAYTON — The Dayton International Peace Museum in collaboration with the Coretta Scott King Center and SCLC will sponsor "MLK MountainTop: Surge to the Summit," a series of events on April 4-5 celebrating the legacy and memorializing the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s death.
• King's last speech, "Mountaintop" will be the focus of a gathering at Courthouse Square on April 4 from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event includes a memorial observation, "MLK: 40 Years Later ... In his own words."
Extras
• "An Afternoon with Dr. King: Fellowship, Learning and Action" will be at the museum, 208 W. Monument Ave.
The public is invited to watch films of King and participate in discussions.
• "MLK Honoring Action" will feature covering all downtown parking meters with bags to honor King and fallen American troops. The action is approved by the city of Dayton and begins at 6 p.m.
• Richard Deats of the Fellowship of Reconciliation will speak on April 5 at 1 p.m. at the Fels Building, 900 Dayton Street, Room 115, on the Antioch College campus in Yellow Springs.
