Woman found dead was habitual runaway
Her parents reported Heather Walker missing numerous times; she had several scrapes with the law.

DAYTON — Tammy and Robert Walker have said they don't believe Dayton police looked for their daughter, Heather Nicole Walker, after they reported her missing on Feb. 9.
Police said the daughter was an adult free to go where she pleased.

Police department reports show that the 18-year-old, whose body was found Saturday, April 26, in an alley trash can off Jersey Street, just north of East Third Street, had a history of running away:
• July 5, 2002: Heather, then 12, is beaten by two girls who steal her bicycle. Story confirmed by two of Heather's friends who witnessed it.
• Oct. 9, 2004: Heather, 14, is arrested for shoplifting shoes at the Meijer on Harshman Road. She apparently left her old shoes in the shoe box and tried to leave. She was with a female friend, 21.
Robert Walker reports he finds it unusual his daughter is friends with someone so much older.
• March 24, 2005: Heather, 15, is arrested for receiving stolen property after police catch her driving a stolen car. Her passenger is a 14-year-old girl.
• Aug. 30, 2005: Tammy Walker drops Heather off at the Miami Valley Health Clinic for a check-up. Heather is four months pregnant. She is to call her mother after the appointment. She never does, and her mother reports her missing the following day, describing her daughter as a habitual runaway. The report notes Heather is on probation.
• Sept. 1, 2006: Parents report her as missing.
• Oct. 14, 2006: Parents report her as missing, saying she snuck out of the house after they went to bed.
• April 2, 2007: Reported missing. Mother hasn't seen her in two days, tells police this is an ongoing problem and Heather refuses to stay home and care for her son, 1.
• April 9, 2007: Mother reports her missing. The report notes officers found Heather the previous week at a Woodcliffe address, but she isn't there this time.
• April 29, 2007: Police bring Heather home. She runs away 10 minutes later. Reported missing on April 30.
• July 2, 2007: Robert Walker reports that Heather and a cousin took his car. They crashed it into a tree, they told him. They also told him they had done a gas drive-off.
