HARRISON TWP., Montgomery County — A shooting Sunday evening on the 5100 block of Northcutt Place sent one man into surgery at an area hospital and sheriff's deputies on a search for the shooter.
Montgomery County Sheriff's Capt. Scott Landis said the victim, whom he did not identify but described as a black male in his mid-20s, was in critical condition after the shooting, which occurred around 6 p.m.

Landis said he didn't know how many times or where on his body the man was shot, but that the victim went to two or three doors at the Northland Village apartment complex near South Dixie and Palisades drives looking for help before medics arrived.
Neighbor Brittany Baskin said she heard three shots before she stepped outside and saw the wounded man, an acquaintance who talked with her recently about "trying to follow in the footsteps of the Lord."
"He seemed like a good guy to me," Baskin said.
Gunfire at the complex is common, she added.
"You probably hear gunshots five times a week," she said.
