Police have issued an arrest warrant for a man who is a suspect in the shooting death of a 20-year-old man who was found on the sidewalk in the 900 block of East Second Street on Sunday evening, May 11.

Police released the name and a photograph of Sanchez Lovett, 30, whose last known address was on East Church Street, and said Lovett and a 15-year-old male juvenile whose name was not released are being sought in connection with the death.

Police said Lovett is currently being sought on a warrant for possessing weapons under disability, and he has not yet been charged directly in the shooting.

Captain Dan Donahue of the Xenia police identified the deceased man as Marco Devon Porter, 20, of Fairborn. He died at the scene about 9 p.m. Sunday.

Donahue said the shooting apparently was the result of a dispute between Porter and the suspects that has been going on for several weeks.

Donahue said Porter and another man were visiting friends at 914 East Second St. While Porter was inside, the suspects who apparently spotted him knocked on the door and told Porter and his friend to step outside.

Donahue said the men apparently had some kind of altercation at a bar in Xenia several weeks ago, and "there had been bad blood among them since then."

Shortly after Porter and his friend stepped onto the porch an argument started that quickly escalated to a fight, according to witnesses. One shot was fired, striking Porter in the chest, and the two men who had knocked on the door earlier fled from the scene.
