A Dayton man who led police on a wild chase through western Montgomery County remained in Miami Valley Hospital on Tuesday, June 3, while authorities considered a list of possible criminal charges against him.

Rayshaun D. Hudson, 31, of 215 W. Nottingham Road, faces possible felony charges after police said he fired a gun at or near law enforcement officers three separate times starting at 3 a.m. Monday, June 2.

Police said Hudson also tried to abduct a woman and reportedly robbed a feed store in New Lebanon before leading authorities on an hour-long chase through Trotwood, Harrison Twp. and Dayton. During the chase, Hudson allegedly carjacked a Jeep Cherokee, police said.

"It's likely he is going to face multiple felony charges, we just don't know how many because there are so many agencies involved," Montgomery County sheriff's Chief Deputy Phil Plummer said.

Hudson has been arrested at least 12 times by Dayton police since 1998 for suspected crimes ranging from robbery to drug possession.

In September, Hudson, using the name Markel Gordon, allegedly shot a man twice in the leg and hit him with the gun in the 1800 block of East Main Street in Springfield. Police found Hudson pointing the gun at the man, according to court records.

Hudson fled and police pursued him. He was later seen on foot and allegedly tossed a bag containing cocaine before being arrested, court records show. He was to be in a Springfield courtroom today for assault charges stemming from that incident.

The chase Monday ended when sheriff's Maj. John Brands' unmarked car collided with Hudson's stolen Jeep after it came barreling onto Burleigh Avenue. Plummer said Brands did not intend to hit Hudson. "He was actually trying to avoid him and the suspect swerved at the last second and they hit," Plummer said.

The Jeep slammed into the front porch of a home in the 1100 block of Burleigh.

Brands and Capt. Rob Streck, along with Dayton police, removed Hudson from the rear of the vehicle, which ended up on its passenger side, facing the damaged house.

Hudson, who complained that his ribs hurt, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, said Plummer, who noted that he expects Hudson to be placed in jail today.
