A preliminary investigation by the Montgomery County sheriff's office showed a van driven by a 40-year-old man was headed south on I-675 when it rear-ended the car carrying Eyler at about 4:45 p.m. The impact forced the car through the median and into northbound traffic, where it was then hit by an oncoming car on the northbound side of the highway.
The 49-year-old male driver of the vehicle from the northbound lane also was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, suffering from non life-threatening injuries. The hospital could not provide updates on the two injured parties Sunday. The van's driver suffered no injuries.
The crash snarled traffic as the highway was closed for more than an hour.
