For some adults, the mere mention of vacation Bible school stirs up memories of Popsicle sticks, plaster of Paris and acute separation anxiety.
But that was the analog era of VBS.

Outmoded VBS practices have been replaced by provocative, interactive VBS programs that take into account the attention spans and technical sophistication of today's children.
"It's not Kool-Aid and cookies anymore," said Margaret Williams, interim church development director for the Greater Dayton Association of Baptists. "When I went to vacation Bible school it was very regimented. You marched into the classroom, sang some songs, pledged allegiance to the flag and were told when to stand, when to sit down.
"Nowadays the music and activities are very 21st century and adapted to meet their needs. Kids rotate from mission to music to arts and crafts and recreation. The curriculum is written with a life truth for each day."
