DAYTON — A former Ohio State University defensive end accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl was sentenced Thursday, June 19, to a year in prison for sexual battery.
Jason Simmons, who played for the Buckeyes in the early 1990s, faced up to 15 years.
Prosecutors said Simmons, a suspended teacher at Northmont Middle School, developed a relationship with the girl following a school trip to Washington, D.C.
Simmons pleaded guilty on May 12 to sexual battery.
