XENIA TWP., Greene County — A man reported missing was found dead on Wednesday, July 9, in woods near his home, police said.

Greg Carlson, 42, was found sometime before 6 p.m., Xenia police Sgt. Peter Wiza said.

Wiza had no other details.

The Montgomery County Coroner's Office would not comment on whether an autopsy would be performed.

Police, firefighters and sheriff's deputies on horseback searched a wooded area for Carlson, who family members said had a history of mental illness.

He apparently wandered away from his home when he was supposed to be walking the family dog.

Emergency workers from several departments began searching the woods near Carlson's home and the WGC Golf Course on Wednesday.

His family reported him missing Tuesday, July 8, Greene County sheriff's Capt. Eric Spicer said.
