GRATIS — A 30-year-old West Alexandria man died early Sunday, July 13, when he apparently lost control of his car on Ohio 122. The vehicle went into a ditch and rolled over, coming to rest against a tree.
The man's name is not being released pending notification of family, according to a statement by the Preble County Sheriff's Office.
A preliminary investigation found that the car, a 2004 Mazda, was headed north on Ohio 122 when it left the road on a curve about 0.08 miles north of Greenbush Road, about three miles south of Gratis. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The statement by Preble County Chief Deputy Terry Snowden said speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors in the crash.
The body was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office, where an autopsy will be performed, Snowden said.
