DAYTON — A 23-year-old Dayton man was arrested Friday, Oct. 3, in a bust involving 228 pounds of marijuana, $17,000 in cash and two handguns.
An investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office organized crime unit determined that the four large boxes of marijuana were coming to Bryon Winningham's home at 125 N. Cherrywood Ave. Shortly after they arrived, deputies arrested Winningham.
The marijuana has a street value of around $500,000, Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer said, which makes the bust "pretty substantial."
Plummer said at least four similar shipments have come to the Cherrywood residence, making it a major source of distribution in the area.
Winningham was booked into Montgomery County Jail at 3:09 p.m. on a charge of possession of drugs. Neighbors told deputies that Winningham worked in waste collection for the City of Dayton.
