TROTWOOD — Quincy Pope, a 12-year veteran of the Trotwood Police Department, was sworn in Monday night, Oct. 6, as the city's new police chief.
More than 100 people watched as Mike Etter, whom Pope succeeds, and Pope's wife, Veronica, pinned the chief's eagles on Pope during a brief ceremony at the opening of the City Council meeting.
"I appreciate all the support, especially from my family. Chief, you did a good job in preparing us," Pope said to the crowd and Etter.
"This is a great show of love and support," Mayor Darryl Davis said of the turnout. "We wish we had all of you here all the time."
Pope, 40, has served as patrolman, detective, sergeant, captain, major and acting chief. He holds a master's degree in public administration from Wright State University and numerous law enforcement certifications.
