Officials: Early voting, registration goes well

The six-day period when voters could register and vote simultaneously went smoothly throughout Ohio and in the Dayton area, elections officials said.
In-person registration and early voting raised concerns it could increase opportunities for fraud, but officials said they have no indication that occurred.
Ohio Republicans failed in court challenges to stop the simultaneous registration and voting from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6, the final day to register before Nov. 4. The six-day window was included in the no-fault absentee voting law passed by the Republican-controlled Ohio Legislature and has been in place since 2006.
Local board officials said there were fewer than expected choosing to register and vote at the same time.
Statewide figures for the six days were unavailable, but Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner said Ohio's voter registration roles grew by 665,949 this year to a total of nearly 8.2 million.
Local officials said ballots cast by same-day registrants will be segregated until boards confirm identifications and addresses.
If mailed acknowledgement cards are returned as undeliverable, the board will investigate, said Steve Harsman, director of the Montgomery County Board of Elections.
One issue critics raised was that the same-day registration could lead to partisans driving the homeless to elections boards to fraudulently vote.
Harsman said the homeless have the right to vote, even if they have no home. They can use a shelter address, the board's address or even a park bench where they sleep, he said.
Early voting numbers by county
Ballots cast Sept. 30 through Oct. 6:
Montgomery County: 3,160 votes; 446 same-day registration.
Greene County: 1,212 votes; 304 same-day registration.
Warren County: 1,031 votes; 203 same-day registration.
Miami County: 694 votes; 6 same-day registration.

Remember middle class when he says he won’t raise taxes on middle class it because he will not keep the tax cut that bush gave middle class alive. and remember 45% of the people who will be getting tax cuts don’t pay taxes instead they will get a big fact check from the gov’t and people who do work and pay taxes won’t get crap. Obama has stated that he will make sure there are no more poor black people and plans on releasing alot of black men out of prison so that can be with all their babies.

We in Ohio gave the presidency to Bush twice. We need to redeem ourselves for the horrible plague we unleased on our fellow Americans. I’m not pointing fingers, I voted for him in 2000.
