DAYTON — There is no closure, just anguish, family members of Angela Hild said Wednesday, Oct. 29, hours after investigators confirmed that skeletal remains found in a wooded area in northern Kentucky belonged to the 37-year-old Dayton mother.
Dental records confirmed that bones found Monday morning, wrapped in a sleeping bag near the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, were Hild's, the Boone County, Ky., Coroner's Office reported.
"The only good thing is now we can put her to rest, but we always hoped she was still alive," the woman's step-sister, Mary Jane Poteet, said.
"She's probably better off where she is now."
An airport employee mowing grass on airport property found the decomposed remains, 300 feet from a road near the airport.
Hild, who had been missing for more than two months, died from multiple stab wounds, Coroner Doug Stith said.
Dayton police detectives have said they are "certain" she was slain by her husband, Michael Hild, in Dayton some time Aug. 21 or 22.
They suspected all along that the 43-year-old spouse dumped his wife's body somewhere in northern Kentucky near Interstate 75.
He was shot to death Aug. 23 in a gunfight with Melbourne, Fla., police after he allegedly robbed a Walgreens store in Orange County, Fla.
The couple's 5-year-old son is living with Angela Hild's relatives.
