HUBER HEIGHTS — A pregnant woman, a passenger in a northbound semi-truck, was struck by a truck after walking across Brandt Pike at 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1.

The woman was on her way back after getting out to buy coffee at Tim Hortons, 7901 Brandt Pike, when she ran out in front of the truck, according to Huber Heights Police Sgt. Christopher Johnson.

Johnson said the woman, who complained of pain, was transported to an area hospital for examination. Her condition was not known.

He said the driver of the semi- had parked in the street, forcing traffic to go around it. While the driver went to the waffle house on one side of the street, the passenger went into Tim Hortons on the other side, he said.

Johnson said the woman was wearing black, and an eyewitness to the accident said she darted out in front of a truck coming up from behind the semi- while she was trying to avoid an oncoming truck.

Johnson said the truck driver who hit her is not expected to be cited, though the semi-truck driver could be cited for parking his vehicle in the street.
