TROY —
A roundup of unusual
items from area police departments:
Nov. 7: Residents in the 1000 block of Paul Revere Way, awakened by a noise, went out to find their garage door and stone facia damaged. The door frame had been pushed in and a Dayton Daily News paper was on the sidewalk. The resident pointed out a reflector that apparently came off the subject's vehicle. The paper carrier, located on Ridge Avenue, still working, denied striking the garage and said she threw the paper from the street. The officer suggested it was nearly impossible to throw the paper so accurately at that distance.
The subject didn't think she pulled into the driveway, but was sure she didn't hit the garage.
The officer produced the reflector and matched it to the vehicle. There also was stone residue on the front bumper believed to be from the garage. The officer told the subject her vehicle was being impounded as evidence. She then admitted to striking the garage, explaining that her papers fell at her feet as she pulled into the drive. She hit the gas by accident and left because she didn't know what else to do.
She was issued a citation for leaving the scene of a private property accident.
