Staff Report

Wednesday, December 03, 2008

URBANA TWP., Champaign County — A man who told a 911 operator his estranged wife was accidently shot during sex was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 2, on a charge of violating a civil protection order.

The arrest of Timothy Havens, 38, of Springfield follows the early Sunday shooting of Carolyn Havens, 42, who was shot in the chest. She is in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital.

She filed the order Aug. 12. He was found guilty in September of violating the order and of assault. That prior offense elevated the current charge to a felony. The shooting is under investigation, sheriff's Sgt. Matt Melvin said.
