FAIRBORN — An emergency dispatcher can be heard on a call talking a noticeably panicked man through CPR in an attempt to revive 2-year-old Juliana Berry Dec. 27.

"I'm slapping the s••• out of her, trying to wake her up," said the boyfriend of Juliana's mother, who was baby sitting the child at 233 Pat Drive.

The man was frantic on a call to police for help. He did not dial 911 police said, but instead called police and fire dispatch. His name has not been released.

The man was eventually able to get Juliana to take a breath, according to the recording. He told the dispatcher she may have had a seizure or choked while eating in her room.

Medics transported Juliana to Children's Medical Center in Dayton where she died Dec. 29.

Police are calling the death "suspicious" and waiting for the coroner's report which could take weeks to be completed. No charges have been filed.

The baby sitter told the dispatcher Juliana hit her head a few days before and had a seizure, but he didn't "think nothing of it" because it didn't last long.

During the emergency call he yelled repreatedly for the child to wake up and told the dispatcher her eyes had rolled back into her head, but her heart was still beating.

"I can feel her heart beating through her chest," he said.
