TROY — A Ludlow Falls area man is being held at the Miami County Jail after calling 9-1-1 and allegedly making verbal threats to Sheriff Charles Cox.
Garrie McFarland, 62, was arrested Sunday morning, Jan. 4, at a Horseshoe Bend Road residence after deputies said he called emergency dispatchers around 9:05 a.m. asking to speak to the sheriff.
When told the sheriff could be contacted at his office on Monday, McFarland allegedly made threats such as saying he was going to drag the sheriff out of his home and "kick his head off."
A dispatcher told deputies when the caller was asked if he was threatening the sheriff, he replied, "This is a promise."
The call from a cell phone was linked to the Horseshoe Bend Road residence. Deputies who went to the residence said McFarland came out of the house without any problems.
He was charged with misdemeanor aggravated menacing, and jailed. Bail was set at $5,000 Monday in county Municipal Court, where a pretrial hearing is scheduled Feb. 19.
