DAYTON — Funeral arrangements have been set for the 29-year-old mother gunned down in her home Friday, Jan. 2.

The family of Jenny Nelson will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road.

A celebration of life ceremony is planned immediately after at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Nelson Memorial Fund at any Fifth Third Bank location.

Nelson died Friday after she was shot twice in the abdomen by Charlie W. Myers, who reportedly confessed to her murder to authorities on Sunday and again to a group of reporters Wednesday, Jan. 7.

Myers kidnapped Nelson's 4-year-old son after shooting her and dropped the boy off at a highway rest area near the Madison and Clark county lines, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's office.

The boy is expected to be OK, said his father, Eddie Nelson, who was at work at the time his wife was killed.
