Future Archbishop to lead anti-abortion vigil
Wednesday, February 25, 2009
KETTERING — Coadjutor Archbishop Dennis Schnurr will lead the rosary for a prayer vigil that will take place outside of the Women's Med Center, 1401 E. Stroop Road on Wednesday, March 4, according to Mary Britt, coordinator for the local 40 Days for Life Campaign.
The vigil will begin at 1:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
The Vatican announced Oct. 16 that Pope Benedict XVI appointed the Rev. Dennis M. Schnurr to succeed Cincinnati Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk.
Schnurr is currently assisting Pilarczyk, who will retire this year. Roman Catholic bishops are required to submit their resignation to the pope upon the age of 75, which Pilarczyk reaches in August 2009.
Schnurr's visit is a part of the local 40 Days for Life Campaign, which will take place between Feb. 25 and April 5. The national campaign encourages prayer vigils and peaceful rallies outside of abortion clinics and asks participates to fast for a period of time.
Those coming to the March 4 event are asked not to park in the parking lot of Mamma DiSalvo's Ristorante, 1375 E. Stroop Road, which is located directly across from the Med Center.
