BEAVERCREEK — Seventh-grader Tushar Goswami's science fair project has brought him international recognition from generals and members of NATO.
Goswami spent four months studying how the jet stream impacts hurricane activity. His project was reviewed by faculty at Old Dominion University and he presented his findings at the Azalea Conference on Hurricanes, which was attended by generals and members of the Department of Homeland Security.

"I was the youngest one there," Goswami said. "Everyone else was in their 50s."
After Hurricane Katrina, Goswami said he decided to study how hurricanes form and the effect the jet stream has on the storms.
"It made me want to find a way to help," he said of the impact of the disaster in New Orleans.
Goswami spent weeks poring over jet stream charts and developing graphs of the paths of past hurricanes.
The Ferguson Middle School student takes his project to state competition in Columbus on Saturday, May 10.
This isn't the first project for which Goswami has received accolades.
Last year, as a sixth-grader, his science fair presentation about the effects of global warming on plant life received a prize from the Discovery Channel.
Goswami's parents, Tarun and Sangita, smile with pride when discussing Tushar's scientific accomplishments.
"It was an independent project. He did everything himself," his mother explained.
Tarun thanked his son's teachers for all their help.
Tushar said he isn't sure if he can outdo himself again next year, but he has big plans.
He plans to be a neurosurgeon and a lawyer.
